New Delhi: The wait for the new Honda City is over now. As promised, Honda Siel Cars India launched the highly anticipated 2012 City in New Delhi on Wednesday.

The Japanese car makers have slashed the price by Rs 50,000 compared to that of the existing model.

The new Honda City comes with an additional variant named 'Corporate' which is a new addition to its other existing E, S and V models. ‘Corporate’ comes with a price tag of Rs 6.99 lakh. The E variant is priced at Rs 7.70 lakh, while the S model comes at Rs 8.20. The variant V-MT and V-AT is priced at Rs 8.70 and Rs 9.42 lakh respectively.

The old City was priced between Rs 7.49 lakh and Rs 9.89 lakh.

The new Honda City which was first launched in Thailand on September has an electric sun-roof installed in the V variant which will bump up the price tag for the V MT to Rs 9.50 lakh and the V AT to Rs. 10.22 lakh (All prices ex-showroom, Delhi) respectively.

Bookings for the new City will commence immediately at all the Honda dealerships nationwide and deliveries will begin in January 2012.

The company had introduced the current third generation City in 2008 and has sold 1.36 lakh units so far.

The City sales have been facing stiff resistance from other models in the segment such as Hyundai Verna, Maruti SX4 and Volkswagen Vento. While Verna, SX4 and Vento offer both diesel and petrol options, City comes only in petrol variant.

Mumbai: Nokia India on Wednesday announced the launch of its Symbian Belle loaded and near field communications (NFC) enabled smartphones, associating itself with the promotion of actor Shahrukh Khan's forthcoming movie Ra.One.

Nokia India's Managing Director D Shivakumar also announced that its Windows 7-based smartphone is already being tested for a 2012 launch.

Nokia 600, Nokia 700 and Nokia 701 which are priced at Rs 12,999, Rs 18,099 and Rs 18,999, respectively, will be available all across the country.

New Delhi: Japanese car major Honda announced its foray into the highly competitive low-price compact car segment in India with the launch of its Brio model, priced between Rs 3.95 lakh and Rs 5.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The company, which is present in India through a joint venture with the Siel group, Honda Siel Cars India, said it is also targeting revenues of Rs 112 crore this fiscal from the export of auto components from India.

"With Brio, we will be entering a new segment for the first time in India. It has been designed and developed specially to meet the needs of customers here," HSCI President and CEO Takashi Nagai told reporters here.
